Skin Design Tattoo Artist
Curtis, also known by Noiz, was born in Oahu, Hawai’i but was raised in San Diego, California. As a kid, he was always drawn to art – spending most of his time creating comics. With street art being a major influence of the San Diego culture, Curtis became infatuated by the art of graffiti from the age of 13, which still remains his most consistent form of art expression to this day. This love for the arts brought him to the Art Institute of Mission Valley, but after a few years, he just couldn’t picture himself in that environment any longer.
Shortly after, Curtis returned to Hawai’i where he started an apprenticeship at Rising Tide Tattoos. This environment didn’t end up being the right fit for him, and through friends, he found himself growing into the Skin Design Tattoo family at the Honolulu shop. This was no ordinary apprenticeship through the company – Robert was traveling a lot and wasn’t around to watch his work grow so it postponed his start for some time. Thankfully, that didn’t stop Curtis from practicing to prove his artwork was a match for the shop. When Robert returned home, he saw Curtis’ work and right then and there he told him to set up shop and start taking in clients.
This was in August of 2020, and ever since, Curtis started working with no days off to develop his own strength in the black and gray realism world that is Skin Design.
“I am very grateful to Robert Pho and the Skin Design family for making this dream come true. I’m surrounded by great artists and get to perfect my skills around those who inspired me to keep following this passion of mine. I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for Robert, Lynn, or Andres and I will continue to strive higher alongside them.”
