REMOVE YOUR OLD AND UNWANTED TATTOO

Has a drunken night’s mistake left you marked with a bad or regrettable piece of art? Or do you simply want more room for some fresh work? If so then Skin Design offers the best tattoo removal in SoHo, New York.

Perhaps the most common situation we’ve experienced with our customers is them wanting us to help get rid of their ex. Now we’re not talking about getting rid of them with a shovel and garbage bag. Instead we’re talking about removing their name and/ or portrait. In short, they simply want their ex off their back…and sometimes their necks.

Now when it comes to laser tattoo removal in SoHo, New York, Skin Design has built a reputation as being the leaders in eradicating old ink. Our specially trained staff has years of experience removing everything from color work to black and grey and if you are wondering if there is a difference, then the answer is yes. The ability to remove past work is dependent upon a few factors. Here are a few things which need to be examined:

  • The color of your ink. Black is the easiest to remove and as your move up the color spectrum other colors become harder to remove.
  • The type of ink used. There are different types of ink used and the effectiveness of the removal process varies depending on ink type. For example, if you are dealing with ink which was made in prison then the difficulty levels become much higher.
  • Your skin type. Different types of skin react different to any type of removal. Our qualified specialists can help determine and assess which skin type you are.
  • Tattoos are made up of layers of ink. The more layers, the more difficult it will be to remove.
  • The location of the piece you want removed has a direct correlation with how effective each pass will be.

Those are just a few of the variables one must consider when it comes time to get laser tattoo removal. SoHo, New York residents have long considered us the most professional establishment in the area and our results are both proven and effective.

In addition, you have to keep in mind that the amount of time it takes to remove your unwanted piece will vary, but we have had proven results in less sessions when compared to other facilities. We also use a predictive scale which is called a “Kirby-Desai Scale” and that is used to assess the potential success and number of treatments which will be required to get the job done. This way you will have a good idea as to how many session will be required.

Our staff has over 30 years of collective experience as tattooists, so we understand the art of how the ink is applied, and that knowledge in itself has become an instrumental tool in helping us with tattoo removal. SoHo, New York residents have voted us as their top choice when it comes to this craft and we take pride in our work as well as our customer service, orientation and education.

Laser Tattoo Removal FAQs

Numbing Creams

While most of our clients prefer to tackle laser tattoo removal treatments without any anesthesia, we do have some patients who apply numbing cream at home prior to their appointment. If you prefer to apply the cream at our facility we suggest that you arrive 1 hour prior to your appointment. Additional charges may apply if we apply the cream at our facility. Please call with any questions.

While we wouldn’t say it hurts, we will say there is a slight discomfort when getting tattoo removal done. Some say that they feel a sharp tingling sensation, but pain ratings are entirely dependent on your pain threshold. Best described as a rubber band slapping your skin, you can come in and ask more questions should you have any questions or concerns.

At Skin Design Tattoo Removal we pride ourselves in educating our customers prior to any decisions being made which is why we offer no pressure, free consultations.

Cost is dependent upon the size of your tattoo, your end goal (remove or lighten), as well as the color and age of your tattoos. For very large tattoos, we typically gauge prices per square inch, and the color and age of tattoo play a role in cost because some colors are harder to remove or lighten.

Keep in mind that lightening a tattoo for a cover up will be much cheaper than entirely removing a piece and these are some of the reasons why we offer free consultation.

Every tattoo (because of ink color, age and the ink used) responds differently due to a number of variables, which include skin type, chemical compositions and compounds of the ink used (jail house ink is hardest to remove), depth, and density of ink placement.

In short our Quanta system is the most effective technology in the market and during your consultation, one of our in house clinicians will estimate the number of tattoo removal sessions needed to remove your tattoo.

Our recommendation in general is that you wait 4-6 weeks between sessions. This recommendation is also addressed on a case by case scenario as differently skin types and the speed of your healing affect when you should and shouldn’t go. In most cases we highly recommend waiting a few weeks between each session. This maximizes the effectiveness of our treatments and gives your body time to heal.

Black and Grey are the easiest ink colors to remove. Usually, a Yag(1064nm) laser works well for these)

Green is the most difficult followed by light blue (Yag and Alexandrite lasers 1064nm and 755nm).

Red/brown/yellow/orange respond well in my experience primarily using 532nm laser.

The bottom line is you can usually clear a tattoo to a level that is barely noticeable to the naked eye, it’s just a matter of how many treatments it will take to get there. That’s because of the great variability in ink composition and our own individual immune systems which is actually what clears the ink.

During your treatments, your tattoo may turn white for a short period of time. From there, the treated area may experience a bit of swelling and you may be left with a sensation of being sunburnt. We recommend that you cover the area with ointment and a bandage during the healing process. Between your treatments, it is important to keep the tattoo covered from the sun to prevent hyperpigmentation (darkening). You will receive detailed instructions during your appointment.

Side effects include just a mild irritation followed by intense happiness and pleasure that your old or unwanted ink is gone. Many people want to remove gang tattoos, ex’s names, and drunken mistakes, while others simply want to lighten older tattoos to make room for new and improved ink.
